Another Week of Anti-Semitism Around the World: Sweden and Germany Face Down Neo-Nazis

This past week Sweden and Germany both confronted neo-Nazis marching through their streets. Similarly, Jewish sites were vandalized across Europe, a Holocaust memorial was vandalized in Estonia, a Jewish cemetery was desecrated in Poland, and a Chabad house was daubed with Swastikas in Western Russia.  Over the course of the past week, there were dozens of deplorable incidents of anti-Semitism reported across the globe.

Approximately 300 neo-Nazis demonstrated in central Stockholm on Saturday. Under the close watch of a detachment of police in riot gear, members of the Nordic Resistance Movement (NRM), an anti-European Union and anti-Minority group marched through the Swedish capital.

Former KKK Grand Wizard Duke and ex-Brith National Party Leader Nick Griffin voiced their support for Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn after he vowed to challenge the “stranglehold of elite power and billionaire domination over large parts of our media“.

Jewish groups have expressed outrage and alarm after protestors in Chile circulated a poster depicting the conductor of the Jerusalem Symphony Orchesta dripping with blood. The JSO is currently on a Latin American tour and is scheduled to perform in Santiago this week.

A video was released from 2013 showing a Jewish woman requesting police interviention after she was called ‘a piece of s**t’ at tense meeting hosted by Jeremy Corbyn in Parliament. At the same meeting, Manuel Hassassian, a representative of Palestinians in Britain, said Israel should “go to hell”.

Julius Malema, the Leader of the Far-Left South Africa n Economic Freedom Fighters party, claimed Jews are training white right-wing individuals as snipers to kill black people.

A Swedish politician from Malmo who has worked on the integration of immigrants denied having said that Jews and Armenians have “impure spirits.” Muhammad Khorshid, who represents Liberals on the municipality’s city council, told Expressen that the Facebook comment attributed to him from 2016 belonged to a fake account.

A 28-year-old Jewish woman filed a complaint with Amersterdam police after she was harassed by a taxi driver. The driver stands acused of calling the woman and her children “cancer“ and threatening that he would “should shoot them all.“

Media reports indicate that in 2013, Jeremy Corbyn claimed British ‘Zionists’ have ‘no sense of English irony despite having lived here all their lives’ and ‘need a lesson’, while giving speech alongside Islamic extremists at a conference publicized by the Hamas military wing.

This weekend, just days ahead of the European Day of Remembrance for Victims of Stalinism and Nazism, unknown vandals desecrated Holocaust memorials at Kalevi-Liiva, the execution site of thousands of Jewish victims of Nazism on the north coast of Estonia.

A Jewish cemetery in Poland was vandalized for the second time in a month. More than thirty headstones were knocked over and shattered in Myslowice. Many of the stones had been repaired just weeks earlier.

Swastikas were graffitied on a Russian Chabad house in the village of Lyubavichi. The town had served as the cradle of the Lubavitch Hasidic movement in western Russia.
